Weld root fatigue of single-sided welded T-Joints

In cooperation with the Institute of Ship Structural Design and Analysis (TUHH), Overdick performed fatigue tests on single-sided welded T-joints. The 25 mm thick joints were fabricated with partial and full penetration welds. A bending load was applied to investigate the weld root fatigue. The paper describes the fatigue test parameters, the used assessment methods and the results. Further, a discussion of the comparison results with actual rules and guidelines is given.
